Being
Green
Using flyscreens on your
windows and doors means you can easily open up your house to
the breeze thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions from
air conditioning
Keep the
flyscreens on the house in good repair.
Wear long sleeves and pants when mosquitoes are likely to be
present. Repellents are best applied to your clothing not
your skin if using DEET.
Install
shutters to block heat transference in windows keeping room
warmer in winter and cooler in summer
Aluminium is stronger and more durable than timber and
therefore lasts longer. Less frequent replacement of
products such as windows and doors
which means less stress
on the earth's resources, as well as being a cheaper
alternative in the long run
When
aluminium products eventually come to the end of their life
they are very easy to recycle and they can be recycled many
times.
Aluminium has the added advantage of only requiring a
small amount of energy to be recycled.
